Lunchtimes at Thirsk C P School
Children having a school meal or a packed lunch are cared for by a team of Supervisory Assistants in the dining hall and Teaching Assistants who assist in directing play during the lunch break. This is under the direction of the Headteacher.
Meals are freshly prepared in the school kitchen, each day there is a choice of main school dinner, baked potato with various toppings or a vegetarian option. The menu is available on the school website and in addition we run a series of special meals to celebrate specific occasions. Meals cost £3.26per day (from Year 3-6) and are free of charge for Reception- year 1 and year 2.
Payments for meals need to be made in advance and the school uses an online payment system which can be accessed at https://www.parentpay.com//
Please contact the school office for a log in and password.
In addition to the Universal Free School Meals for Keys Stage 1 pupils, free school meals are available to children whose parents receive certain benefits. For further details and an application form please contact the school office or look on the NYCC website.
Packed Lunches
We understand that some children will bring a packed lunch from home. Please can we ask that consideration be given to the contents and that children are encouraged to make healthy choices, as what children eat at lunchtime has a direct impact on how well they focus and learn in afternoon lessons. Dear Parents/Guardians,
School Meal Price Increase September 2025 Our meals are currently supplied through North Yorkshire County Caterers, the continued increases in staffing and food costs have increased the cost of producing meals. As a result, the Governors have taken the difficult decision to partially increase the price of a school meal to £3.60 per day from September 2025(£18.00pw).
We have not gone ahead with the full increase as we appreciate these are difficult times for everyone. Information about our school meals is found on the following link:
