School Games County Finals

School Games Finals
Sunday 7th July saw an amazing day for TCP at the North Yorkshire Sport School Games finals. The event was held at St Margaret's School near York and was attended by over 700 pupils and their families, who had travelled to the event from all over North Yorkshire.
The opening ceremony saw Year 6 pupil, Jessica being presented with the medals, that she had designed especially for the event, by former Olympic and Commonwealth Gymnast Craig Heap. Jessica had won a countrywide competition to design the winning medals for this event.
The year 3 and 4 hockey tournament started later in the morning. Having lost their initial game against lakeside Primary School (York Champions) TCP who were representing Hambleton, beat teams representing Harrogate, Rydale and Richmondshire. This led to a nail-biting few minutes where the initial defeat at the beginning of the day could have led to TCP not progressing further in the competition. However, results from other groups meant that TCP finished as the highest placed runners up. This lead to a semi-final play off against St Wilfred's School (also from York) before the grand final against Lakeside; who had already beaten us at the beginning of the day. An outstanding game of hockey took place which ran into extra time and 'sudden death' with a fantastic goal scored by Matthew to steal victory.
Thank you to all the parents and families who gave up their Sunday to come along and support the event and to Mrs Trenholme for all the work in organising the many logistics for the event- a magical day!
