Thirsk Community Primary School held their first after School Mini Medics club for pupils in year 3 to 6. Kim from Sebeau Health Visiting was their wonderful tutor. The session included learning about the basics of first aid including CPR, contacting the emergency services, DR ABC and how to ensure they keep themselves safe whilst providing first aid.
The children also learnt how to put a patient into the recovery position and then went home to practice on their families!! It was a wonderful way to introduce children to first aid with no use of confusing terminologies and showing complete respect for each child’s ability.
Mini Medics is a fun course whilst being educational and practical and instils the importance of helping someone who is poorly or injured.
Our children are now proud to call themselves 'Mini medics' armed with new skills that could one day save a life!
