To mark the Queens jubilee we held a non uniform day and after School Disco and pupils and staff were encouraged to wear something red, white and blue. Each class chose a different decade of the Queen's life and undertook different activities to celebrate her reign including dance routines, portraits and crafts. Every pupil and member of staff were given the opportunity throughout the day to plant a tree and this area will be known as The Platinum Woods. It will eventually become part of our outdoor classroom and Forest School area.
We had some special guests attend the opening ceremony and would like to thank Thirsk Mayor Mr David Jackson, Vice Mayor Mr Andrew Trueman, Councillor Mr Gareth Dadd, Councillor Mr Mark Robson, Sowerby Council Mr David Whitfield and NYCC Mr Dave Elders.
Our School Eco Warriors were on hand to chat to them and assist in the first part of the planting.
later in the day we had a surprise visit from 'Her Majesty The Queen' Who planted the last tree wearing some lovely gold shoes and diamonds!!!
