KS1 Vet Topic day November 2017

Key Stage 1 Topic Celebration - The Life of Alf White

This terms topic is Local Heroes and is based around the life of the vet Alf Wight (aka James Herriot). On Tuesday 7th November the children from Miss Cullis, Miss Cruikshank and Miss Shepherd's class came dressed as vets, receptionists and animals. We had a lot of poorly toy pets brought in including dogs and even a lizard!
The children had the opportunity to take part in 3 exciting activities: clay animal making, animal dancing and making a farm collage.
On Wednesday 8th November we had a visit from two of Skeldale vets they were called Zoe and Katie. They told us all about their job working as vets and how they treat animals that are poorly or need operations. Some of the children had the chance to dress up in actual vets overalls and try on some long gloves that they wear when they go to the farms...it can be a mucky job! Overall the children of KS1 had a fun and inspiring day and some of them even said they would like to be vets when they grow up!
