Key Steps Gym 2017
Thirsk Community Primary school sent 15 pupils to compete in the local cluster Key Steps Gym competition at Thirsk High school on Monday 20th March. Teams of 5 from each year grouping, dressed in the Thirsk CP sports kit filled the sports hall in readiness to present their routines. Year 1&2 pupils carried out 3 routines of Floor, Bench and Body Management; we were against another 30 pupils from 6 different schools. Evie Reeves, Lily Lambert, Isobelle Mahoney Webster, Matthew Wilkinson and Kash Butcher presented their routines with near perfection gaining their team an overall gold, with Matthew gaining a personal bronze, Lily with a personal silver and Evie gold for her solo. Our second team of Year 3& 4 pupils went against very strong competition of 35 pupils from several local schools. After a tremendous flow of routines including the vault, team 2 (Laura Challenger, Molly Stimson, Jacob Reeves, Daisy Elliott and Georgia Hollywood) came a very well earned 5th place.. Our final team of Year 5&6 took on another 35 pupils, the team consisting of Rebecca Maris Marsden, Kayla Goodall, Laura Brewster, Sam Roberston, Ella Stimson and Jack Pearson Gilbank worked hard on their routines, showing control, stamina and talent throughout. Rebecca earned a personal gold, whilst the team gained silver, only being points from gold.
